Time to get that email marketing campaign rolling! This is a followup to the last meeting. Be ready to discuss your audience, what kind of emails you plan to send them and why (content & appearance), and how often! Then let's get started with your launches!

The disadvantage of turning our last meeting into a conference call is that we were missing the face-to-face interaction. So for this one, rather than just jump on implementation, I want people to review the checklist and the newsletter design before the meeting. Then I'll give about a 45 minute presentation/discussion on deciding what your email campaign focus should be, design considerations, and implementation steps. Then we implement several in front of the group.

In the last meeting we covered good newsletter design, targeting your audience, and what kind of email marketing suits your audience (ebooks, newsletters, daily or weekly tip, etc).

The recording of the conference call, Powerpoint, and tutorials are at http://lowhangingloot.com/GettingStartedinEmailMarketingOct2009.aspx and are also posted on the message board.

Before coming to the next meeting, you have an assignment!

1. Go through the Case Study on Newsletter Design by industry.

2. Fill out the Checklist for Planning Your Email Marketing.
Note - competitive analysis required! You need to sign up for your competitors' newsletters/ebooks/email tips, etc. ahead of time & see what they do!

If you are ready .....
3. Write your first 2 newsletters (or weekly tips email, ebook, whatever you will be emailing your list).

4. Write out what you will capture in your opt-in (email only? Name and email? Name, email, zip?)

I'm open to suggestions here. I am trying to provide what people need, but I need your input to do that!

Email me or call me if you have any questions.

This meeting is for more than general information – it is designed to get your email marketing launched. This particular meeting is designed to cover all bases of setting up email marketing for your business … followed up with a meeting where we physically set up your marketing campaign and your autoresponder.

We will cover:

1. Just what can you use an email list for? What can you deliver to your target audience via your email list?

2. What is your niche or area of expertise? Should you have an email list? What information would your audience want and in what form?
- We will go around the room and brainstorm these questions for each attendee.

3. Audience targeting – find your audience, what they want, and avenues for connecting up with them.
- As in step 2, we will go around the room and use the niches of our attendees to demonstrate how to find the target audience and what they want.

4. The basic steps for setting up your email marketing and autoresponder, from A to Z. The 3 stages: Defining the purpose and content of your email marketing, setting up your autoresponder to manage and deliver to your email list, and promoting your email list.

5. How to set up your email list as the heart of your main business. Did you know you can use your email list as a membership business, without the headache of a membership site? Did you know you can set up your email list to generate recurring income? And in less time than a traditional website would take? We will cover the basics of this kind of business model.

6. Checklist for action – Every attendee will walk out with a checklist of action items to be done within the next 2 weeks. For most, this will entail a small amount of audience and niche research, and then writing an ebook, the first 2 or 3 lessons of a minicourse, or 2 issues of a newsletter. It should take each attendee no more than 10 hours to do the whole checklist.

Two weeks later we will have a follow-up meeting where we set up each attendee’s autoresponder account ($1 for the first month with aWeber), create an email list, input the content (newsletter, e-book, whatever), and run a test campaign. You will walk out ready to start promoting your email list. You need to bring a laptop. I am expecting to bring 2 laptops so that people without a laptop can still get up and running. If you want to get an idea of what we will be doing, watch the How to Get Started video at aWeber.

Note: In July, I delivered a presentation on autoresponders, then discovered it was over most attendees’ heads, because most had not yet started any email marketing. This meeting is to remedy this situation!!

This is also my first attempt at a real action-structured meeting – one where there are action items with a bona fide follow-up later. Many meetings have been packed full of great information that people appreciate but never get around to using. If you never take action, you will never have a profitable Internet business.

I hope to follow this with more action-oriented meetings. I would appreciate any feedback from the group!

A First! A Training Party! Fun!
11 am to 4 pm (6 pm if you want to keep working!)

Walk out with your niche, profitable products, and
the key action steps for quickly ramping up your income.

In depth Clickbank training on:

How to find profitable niches on Clickbank
Finding profitable products
Where's the money techniques from Commission Blueprint
Planning a review site
In depth competitive analysis using Traffic Travis Pro

As a group, we will be doing the entire week 1 of AffiloBlueprint.
AffiloBlueprint is training program that walks you through building
a review site that sells Clickbank products. I have a theater room with
a 7 ft by 6 ft screen, so we can easily watch the videos together.

Mark Ling demos each step, building a profitable site in front of you, then
your homework is to do exactly what you see him do. We will be doing
this homework on the spot.

Watch the 20-minute intro to the course at anitaedge.com/LHL/introduction.wmv
to get an idea of what AffiloBlueprint is like.

Week 1 has 5 videos totalling about 2 hours that cover finding a profitable
niche, doing the keyword and background research, building your keyword
lists, finding the keywords that convert, and evaluating the competition.
Everyone should walk out with a niche and the products to sell selected ...
or with the decision that this model is just not for you.

We will go through all this together, exploring every niche that is of
interest to anyone; but bring your laptop so you can work on your own
if you want.

I'm planning to use this to raise the funds for our group to join Denver
Open Media (final target = $1,000), so I'm planning to charge $30 for the day.
(Bring a guest in same car for another $15 - but this is probably not for
raw newbies as we'll plunge right into keyword analysis. Email me if you
want to bring a guest).

I will be cooking up infinite killer champion green chili, both mild and medium hot,
plus chips, salsa, bean dip, guacamole. Bring your own drinks. You're welcome
to bring side dishes or dips if you want.

Note:
- We will mainly be looking at Clickbank (downloadable) products
- How to supplement Clickbank products with other products on your review site
- The business model we will focus on building is a review site; no other model
will be addressed.
- The advantage of this model for a beginner's first Internet business is that
it is one of the simplest and potentially most profitable models. It is a great
model to start with.
- So far, AffiloBlueprint is the only training I've found with such a narrow, show-
you-each-step focus. I think this is a big advantage; if you just do each
homework assignment, you end up with a business.

As some of you know, my 13 year old son Nick and his buddy Josh are doing
AffiloBlueprint. How are they doing? Well, they got through weeks 1-6 in less
than 2 weeks(about 35 hours total); but then week 7 hit right before school
started. Week 7 is probably 3 times more work than the other weeks. They
are mid-week 7 where they have set up an autoresponder and opt-in form
on their site, and they are now in the middle of building a 5-part video course.
They have created the first video and have 4 more to go. Then school started
and their teachers have piled on homework! Their site is top10wowguides.com.

The kids have done all the work themselves (except my graphics guy did a few
graphics for them). I've answered maybe a dozen questions, and that's it.

If there is enough interest, I'll do this twice; I was originally planning it for this
coming Sunday. I live in Conifer, though, about 45 minutes from downtown Denver.

Feedback? Questions? Email or call me! I'm hoping we can all do more to turn
our Internet marketing work into lots of fun.

Do you Squidoo? I do, and most of you should, too!

I have had a handful of Squidoo lenses (articles) for over 2 years, and they have gotten me traffic for my web sites and made me money.

Squidoo is a hybrid between a blog and a static website. "Lensmasters" set up one-page lenses (articles) on one topic. Unlike a blog, which is a collection of thoughts or snippets of information put together on a daily - or sometimes hourly - basis, the Lens is created once. You may go back to revise it, but it is always a one page document. Users can comment, leave links, and vote on the page.

The benefits of a lens are:

- Lenses are free
- A royalty payment. Royalties are earned from all the keyword clicks, affiliate income, and referral fees the lenses generate.
- More traffic to your blog and websites. (Google loves Squidoo!)
- A way to build credibility for yourself and your organization by serving as a trusted guide.
- Increased search engine rank for you and the pages you point to.

Squidoo is easy to use. Those of you who have yet to start building your Internet businesses or still haven't started that blog you've been thinking of should seriously look at starting out with Squidoo. It's a great way to get rolling.

Bring your laptop and be prepared to create your first lens or add another to your current repertoire. You might want to get started now by using this wizard to create your first lens.

We will be looking at some good and bad examples to give you an idea of how to create quality lenses that promote your business and make you money.

If you are not already taking advantage of Squidoo, don't miss this opportunity!

Think I'm joking?? No way! I recently went through comparing and evaluating several of the top autoresponders. Plus I migrated one of my email lists from one autoresponder onto another - a painful process that could have been avoided with better planning (years ago).

We will cover:

When & how should you first implement an email list
The different kinds of emails & newsletters you may want to send
Capabilities to look for in an autoresponder
Comparing autoresponders - how to select the right one
Gotchas - how to avoid problems
Planting the seeds for big sales in the future

Email marketing is predicted to continue as a "killer app" in the Internet Marketing world. It is still one of the very best ways to promote and generate revenue. Getting a good solid understanding of how to use and leverage an autoresponder should be top priority for your Internet business.

Got any great email marketing war stories?? Be prepared to share them!!

Topic: Your Game Plan for Making Money in Affiliate Marketing
Time: 6:30 schmoozing, 7:00 presentation
Location: Panera Bread Meeting Room
7739 Wadsworth Boulevard
Arvada, Colorado 80003
(303) 420-7500 | phone

(Note:
The Mile High Affiliate Party is at 9 pm 4.5 miles away at:
Platinum 84, 8485 Umatilla St, Denver, CO 80260, 720-540-9333)

I will be giving an informal (no projector) presentation on coming up with your game plan for your affiliate marketing business and where the Affiliate Convention fits in. If you are going to the Affiliate Convention, you should have a game plan on how it will help you make money in the next 2-6 months.

I want each of you to write down beforehand the following:
1. Your goal in affiliate marketing for the next 6 months - specific, measurable, with a time frame.
2. Your niche(s), product(s), either current or ones to research
3. What method(s) will you use for promotion?
4. Your obstacles, what's been holding you back
5. What you want to get out of the convention

Many people just wander around at events like this, absorbing random information like a sponge, but never doing anything with it. With a game plan, you should be able to make this really productive. Be prepared for discussion!

What are my affiliate marketing goals?? The main goal here is higher profit with less work....
1. Focus on affiliate programs with recurring commissions and high retention (I have about 5 specific ones I want to target)
2. Build up email lists targeting those audiences; goal = 5,000 subscribers by end of year
3. Create my own ebook(s) around those affiliate programs and use joint ventures with at least 3 partners to build my list and increase sales of these recurring programs.

If you haven't yet listened to it, go to:
http://lowhangingloot.com/affiliateconvention2009.aspx
and listen to my 15-minute interview with Jeannine Crooks on how to get the most from the Affiliate Convention

What's prompting this?? Okay, this is embarrassing... the Mile High Affiliate Party at 9 pm is at a strip club, and yes, there will be a stripper there (topless). Well, now I'm not sure. The convention organizer say no topless dancer, but the club manager says there will be one. One of our members, Erik, was very thoughtful and warned me that the location was a strip club. Well, I was so naive and clueless, I figured the venue must have been cheap to rent or something. I never dreamed anyone would have a convention party with a stripper. I finally tracked down the club manager this weekend and discovered there would be a stripper. So... if you don't want to go to the "Mile High Affiliate Party", I don't blame you. Personally, I think this is unprofessional and damages the reputation of the convention; and I'm letting the convention organizers know.

If you want to go to the party at 9 pm, it's just 10 minutes away, but I expect many will not be interested as there might be very little business networking happening. I'll see what else I can find out when I talk to the organizer Monday.

Give me a call or email me for any questions, feedback, or to yell at me for not coming up with this earlier.

Do you need to:
- research a market niche to really "get" what they will pay for?
- drive traffic to your site?
- get a "buzz" going about what you have to offer?
- establish a relationship with your target client base?

Mining the Blogosphere should be among the first actions you take. If you know how, this can be the quickest way to immediately boost traffic and get real input on what people will buy. This is not about creating your own blog (which you may do after this step); it's about leveraging others' blogs to catapult your own business.

We will cover:
- Narrowing down the massive world of blogs for a niche into a short list worth mining.
- Tools for automating the process and cutting days or weeks of work down to hours.
- Systems for cultivating relationships and continuing to boost traffic over time.
- Where blog mining fits in with everything else.

I'm planning to present this myself as I find that this is a hole in our last 6 months of programs. We've gone into detail about affiliate programs and social networks and people have asked for programs on blogging, but if you are not mining the blogs you are severely limiting your results!

I would like to use up to a half dozen examples provided by audience members. If you want your site, niche, or product category to be included in the presentation and discussion, email me with details! No guarantee as I want to include a variety of examples, but I'll give priority to those who send me their info right away .

Any questions or requests? Email me!
